Trainee Area Manager – Retail (Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford)

About the role

Join a leading food‑retail business as a Trainee Area Manager and take charge of a district covering Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford. You will oversee multiple stores, develop high‑performing Store Managers and contribute directly to the commercial success of the region.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a district of retail stores with direct responsibility for several Store Managers.
• Coach, develop and support Store Managers to achieve operational and commercial excellence.
• Create a positive, motivated and high‑performing team culture across the district.
• Analyse store performance, stock movements and key business metrics to drive improvements.
• Develop and implement annual business plans and KPI targets.
• Plan staffing structures and support workforce planning across stores.
• Conduct regular district visits, operational reviews and cash‑management checks.
• Support new store openings, refurbishments and strategic business projects.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to implement company strategy and deliver business objectives.

Required profile

• Minimum 2.1 degree in any discipline or at least three years’ management experience.
• Previous management experience in a fast‑paced retail or customer‑facing environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, organisational, planning and analytical abilities.
• Commercial mindset with solid problem‑solving skills.
• Full, clean driving licence and flexible, proactive work approach.
• Passion for building a long‑term career in retail.

Required skills

• Starting salary €78,000, rising to €89,500 and up to €121,000 after three years.
