Architecture Director – Data Centres

About the role

AECOM is seeking an Architecture Director to lead multidisciplinary data‑centre projects across the UK, Ireland and Europe. The role combines technical design leadership with client‑account management, ensuring successful delivery of hyperscale and colocation facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architectural and engineering design for data‑centre projects at a Technical Director level.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as a trusted Client Account Manager.
• Identify pipeline opportunities, support bidding and pricing, and ensure projects meet fee and margin targets.
• Oversee internal commercial and contractual governance, managing risk and profitability.
• Coordinate resources across AECOM’s UK, Ireland and European teams, ensuring the right expertise is deployed.
• Travel within the UK, Ireland and Europe to support project delivery and client engagement.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in data‑centre architecture or a related technical role.
• Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary projects and manage client accounts.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in bidding, pricing and contract governance.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to anticipate and mitigate project issues.

Required skills

• Technical design expertise in data‑centre projects.
• Knowledge of data‑centre standards, permitting processes and construction delivery.
• Experience with multidisciplinary coordination across architecture and engineering teams.
