About the role
The Assistant Secretary will serve as the Director (Designate) of the Criminal Justice International Cooperation (CJIC) office. This senior legal position will lead the establishment of the CJIC as a corporation sole, overseeing its phased launch and ensuring readiness for the e‑Evidence Regulation on 18 August 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Lead recruitment, organisational preparation and business‑process mapping for the CJIC.
- Oversee service‑provider registration and coordinate with the Implementation Team.
- Act as the Irish enforcement authority under the e‑Evidence Regulation.
- Serve as the Irish central authority for transmission of European Production and Preservation Orders.
- Ensure consistent application of the e‑Evidence Directive and determine infringements of Articles 3 and 4, imposing penalties where appropriate.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in legal and regulatory matters related to e‑Evidence and cross‑border judicial cooperation.
- Proven leadership in managing large, multi‑disciplinary teams and complex organisational change.
- Ability to interpret and apply European legal frameworks and directives.
