Catering Assistant – Hospital Food Services

About the role
The Catering Assistant will join the food services team at Leopardstown Park Hospital, providing meals and refreshments to residents, staff and visitors. This role ensures high‑quality service while complying with food hygiene and health‑and‑safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, plate and serve meals, snacks and beverages across the hospital.
- Operate counter service, manage portion controls and maintain customer satisfaction.
- Assist with special functions, conferences and events.
- Dishwashing, pot washing and cleaning of equipment according to HACCP schedules.
- Receive and store food deliveries, checking for quality and safety.
- Restock hot and cold counters, refrigeration units and serving trays.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, dieticians and health‑promotion coordinators to meet dietary requirements.
Required profile
- Reliability in reporting for duty on time and following management direction.
- Ability to work flexibly and maintain confidentiality of staff and service‑user information.
- Willingness to adhere to uniform, sick‑leave and health‑and‑safety policies.
Required skills
- Knowledge of HACCP principles.
- Food hygiene and health‑and‑safety awareness.
- Basic meal preparation and service techniques.
