Clerk of Works – Construction Quality Assurance

About the role

Respond, one of Ireland's largest housing associations, is seeking a Clerk of Works to ensure that new homes are built to the highest standards of quality, safety and sustainability. You will work across multiple teams to oversee construction, manage defects and support the handover of completed dwellings.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect building and civil engineering works to verify compliance with specifications, planning permission, building regulations and fire safety standards.
• Monitor health and safety compliance on site and maintain detailed construction logs, including risk mitigation measures.
• Conduct building surveys, audits and snagging activities, and manage the defect liability process.
• Chair progress meetings, lead inspections and coordinate defect close‑out reviews with contractors and internal stakeholders.
• Support the transition of new housing schemes from development to asset management and housing operations.
• Review operation & maintenance manuals, health & safety files and statutory certifications, capturing lessons learned for future projects.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification (e.g., National Certificate).
• Experience working on construction sites, preferably within housing or social infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of building regulations, fire safety, planning permissions and health & safety legislation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.
