Clinical Nurse Facilitator – Infection Prevention & Control

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Facilitator will join the multidisciplinary team at the Sports Surgery Clinic to lead infection prevention and control (IPC) initiatives. This permanent position focuses on safeguarding patients and staff by implementing evidence‑based IPC practices.

Key responsibilities

• Act as an accountable role model, providing professional leadership in IPC.
• Provide specialist knowledge, consultancy and expertise to nursing and healthcare personnel.
• Develop and maintain an IPC strategy and programme of work in collaboration with the IPC lead.
• Design, conduct and evaluate audits related to IPC, reporting findings to the IPC Committee.
• Maintain KPI data and integrate best evidence into clinical practice.
• Educate staff on isolation practices, transmission‑based precautions and infection control policies.
• Coordinate outbreak investigations and support microbiology reporting.
• Monitor clinic hygiene standards alongside the Director of Nursing and Cleaning Services.
• Develop, update and deliver education on IPC and decontamination policies.
• Collaborate with Occupational Health on immunisation activities.
