Construction Manager – Client‑Side Governance for Data Centre

About the role

We are seeking an experienced construction professional to lead client‑side governance for a major hyperscale data centre programme. The role will oversee safety, quality, schedule and contractor performance throughout construction and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide client‑side oversight of the main construction contract and ensure alignment with project scope, drawings, and specifications.
• Monitor progress, schedule performance, and change impacts, escalating risks to programme delivery.
• Coordinate across multiple contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure effective site integration and interface management.
• Monitor health, safety, and environmental performance and ensure appropriate reporting and escalation of incidents and risks.
• Review contractor documentation including method statements, inspections, and commissioning records.
• Support commissioning and handover activities, ensuring readiness and issue resolution during system testing and integration.
• Maintain structured reporting, governance processes, snagging lists, and close‑out tracking.
• Identify opportunities for schedule improvement, acceleration, and risk mitigation.
• Provide clear, evidence‑based reporting to senior stakeholders on project progress and key decisions required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in client‑side construction management, project governance, or delivery assurance roles.
• Strong background in large‑scale infrastructure, industrial, or data centre construction environments.
• Experience working in complex, multi‑contractor programmes.
• Strong understanding of construction delivery, commissioning processes, and project controls.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to operate at senior level.
• Strong focus on governance, risk management, and delivery assurance.
