Control Room Operator

About the role

The Control Room Operator will join the Processing team at Simberi Gold’s open‑cut mine on Simberi Island, Papua New Guinea. Working a 15/13 roster, the operator monitors plant performance from the control room, ensuring continuous, safe gold production.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage equipment via Citect and PI systems, adjusting control parameters according to Metallurgist guidelines.
• Compile shift reports, record plant performance data and daily reagent consumption estimates.
• Communicate any abnormal equipment behaviour to the Process Supervisor and allocate tasks to field technicians.
• Escalate breakdowns promptly and assist in troubleshooting to minimise plant stoppages.
• Support the Process Supervisor with crew management and ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety procedures.

Required profile

• Experience in plant or processing control environments, preferably in mining or metals.
• Ability to work safely, identify hazards and follow reporting procedures.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and capacity to work under a shift roster.
• Willingness to work on‑site at Simberi Island and collaborate with field technicians.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Citect SCADA software.
• Familiarity with OSIsoft PI data historian.
• Basic troubleshooting of plant equipment.
