Data Center Mechanical Engineer – Design and Process

About the role

The Data Center Engineering team is shaping the physical design of next‑generation data centers. You will work in a research‑focused environment, tackling complex challenges such as power efficiency and environmentally‑friendly operations. As a senior mechanical engineer you will drive innovation and continuous improvement across our facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full product design life‑cycle from requirements gathering to manufacturing release.
• Generate concepts, perform detailed design with analysis, and conduct verification testing.
• Lead cross‑functional reviews and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Develop infrastructure improvements and serve as the subject‑matter expert for mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with facilities technicians to implement design recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3 years experience in mission‑critical facility design and construction.
• Experience with structural and thermal analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Proficiency in mechanical design and documentation using 3D CAD tools.
• Preferred: Master's degree, professional engineering license, and experience estimating, operating, and commissioning data‑center mechanical equipment.

Required skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural and thermal studies.
• 3D CAD modeling and documentation.
• Design and commissioning of mechanical cooling plants, fire suppression, fuel oil, domestic water, and sanitary sewer systems.
• Modular building‑scale assembly design with tolerance analysis.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, building codes, and medium‑scale production design.
