Data Centre Architect – Design Engineering

About the role

Amazon Web Services is looking for a Data Centre Architect to join its Data Centre Design team in Dublin. The role will lead architectural designs for AWS data centres across EMEA and support global projects, shaping prototype facilities and providing technical guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate conceptual designs and maintain project documentation throughout construction phases.
• Develop and maintain Basis of Design, prototype designs, and template specifications for architectural elements.
• Provide metrics on cost, quality and schedule, and collect data from construction and commissioning teams.
• Prepare capital project design budgets and contribute to business cases for new and existing region deployments.
• Partner with AWS engineering leads and internal customers to define scope, schedule and deliverables.
• Create, review and release design RFPs, and manage external design consultants through design and construction.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, controls and cabling engineers to ensure integrated solutions.
• Identify innovative solutions to reduce costs while maintaining quality and reliability.
• Travel up to 25% for site assessments, design meetings and construction reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering for mission‑critical facilities such as data centres, power generation or oil & gas.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies and construction methods for data centre equipment and facilities.
• Preferred: Professional Engineer licence, knowledge of regional building codes and regulations, and ability to carry design concepts from exploration to deployment.
• Preferred: Ability to read, interpret and create construction drawings and specifications.
