Deli Assistant

About the role

The Deli Assistant is responsible for preparing high‑quality hot and cold deli products while ensuring customer satisfaction remains the top priority. This part‑time position works within a fast‑paced retail environment, supporting the Centra brand values of being proud, energetic, imaginative, and community‑based.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare customer orders across all fresh‑food areas, including making sandwiches, rolling, cooking hot items, and slicing meats using portion‑control measures.
• Cook, prepare, and display foods sold throughout the day, maintaining high standards for counter displays.
• Share product knowledge, recipes, and personal recommendations with shoppers to demonstrate passion for quality food.
• Handle customer queries efficiently and professionally in line with store policy.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills and previous customer‑service experience (advantageous).
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment and multitask under pressure.
• Passion for food and the ability to inspire shoppers.
• HACCP training is desirable but not mandatory.
