About the role
The Deputy Director of Antitrust will provide senior leadership for the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission’s Antitrust Division, overseeing both Investigation & Enforcement and Screening, Case Pipeline & Early Intervention workstreams. This role is central to delivering high‑quality competition law outcomes, protecting competitive markets and consumer welfare in Ireland.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and drive enforcement and case strategies, including theories of harm and evidence‑gathering plans.
- Oversee the use of investigative powers such as dawn raids, statutory interviews, and legally binding information requests.
- Prepare key enforcement documents, including case screening memos, investigation initiation memos, Statements of Objections and Investigation Reports.
- Ensure all casework is robust, evidence‑based, procedurally compliant and aligned with the Commission’s strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with the other Deputy Director, Director of Antitrust, Senior Director of Competition Enforcement, Competition Legal Division and the Commission to shape enforcement pathways and determine outcomes.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in competition law enforcement and antitrust investigations.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex, high‑profile cases.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on evidence‑based decision making.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
- Capacity to work collaboratively across senior leadership and external partners.
