EAL Teacher – Primary School (IB PYP)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher to join the Primary School team at Nord Anglia International School Dublin. The role supports primary‑age learners in developing English proficiency within the inquiry‑driven International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Key responsibilities

• Provide targeted, high‑quality EAL support to help students access the PYP curriculum and improve listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons in withdrawal sessions and through in‑class support, adapting to diverse linguistic needs.
• Use a range of assessment tools to identify language needs, monitor progress and give constructive feedback to students, parents and class teachers.
• Collaborate closely with PYP class teachers to design inclusive lessons and share language‑development strategies.
• Create a welcoming classroom culture that celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity.
• Communicate regularly with parents, offering progress updates and home‑learning strategies.
• Participate in extracurricular activities, school events and community initiatives that enrich the student experience.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification with a specialism, additional qualification or significant experience in EAL/EFL/TESOL.
• Proven experience teaching EAL learners in a primary‑school setting.
• Strong understanding of the IB Primary Years Programme and inquiry‑based learning.
