Electrical Project Engineer – Dublin

About the role
The Electrical Project Engineer will join the Engineering Department of an Irish business, delivering electrical design solutions across commercial, data‑centre, pharmaceutical, infrastructure and renewable‑energy projects. Based in Dublin, the role involves managing projects from concept through construction and commissioning while ensuring compliance with Irish and EU standards.
Key responsibilities
- Produce LV/MV power distribution, lighting, small power, earthing & bonding, emergency lighting, lightning protection and fire‑alarm interface designs.
- Develop concept, detailed and construction‑stage designs, including single‑line diagrams, schematics, layouts, cable schedules, load calculations and protection studies.
- Specify electrical equipment and systems suitable for customer sites and grid connections.
- Support projects through all lifecycle stages: concept, planning, detailed design, tender, construction and commissioning.
- Attend design team meetings, technical workshops and site inspections; review contractor submittals and value‑engineering proposals.
- Ensure compliance with Irish Building Regulations (Part B, L, M) and Health & Safety legislation.
- Liaise with Safe Electric, ESB Networks and inspecting authorities; coordinate with mechanical, architectural, civil and process disciplines.
- Provide technical input during tenders, procurement and hand‑over activities.
Required profile
- Degree or Level 7/8 qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 2–8+ years’ experience in electrical design, preferably on projects in Ireland or the EU.
- Strong understanding of Irish electrical standards and regulations.
Required skills
- LV/MV power distribution design.
- Lighting, small power, earthing & bonding, emergency lighting, lightning protection, fire‑alarm interface design.
- Single‑line diagram, schematic and layout creation.
- Cable scheduling, load calculations and protection studies.
- AutoCAD and Revit (BIM) proficiency.
- Electrical design calculation tools such as Trimble, Electrical OM, ETAP and Dialux.
- Knowledge of Irish Building Regulations (Part B, L, M) and Health & Safety legislation.
