Executive Architect

About the role

The Executive Architect will join the City Architects Division within the Housing & Community Services Department, supporting senior architects in delivering a wide range of municipal building projects. The role involves independent design work, collaboration with internal and external design teams, and ensuring compliance with city regulations and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of architectural programmes across City Council projects.
• Produce sketch plans, working drawings, details and specifications for building designs.
• Coordinate with design teams, other council divisions, and external consultants to achieve timely results.
• Apply BIM processes and maintain project documentation.
• Support contract administration and capital works management.

Required profile

• Professional qualification in Architecture prescribed under the Building Control Act 2007.
• Eligibility for registration as an Architect under the same Act.
• Minimum four years of satisfactory architectural experience.
• Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and public‑service frameworks.
