Finance Planning Accountant – 12‑Month Contract

About the role

This 12‑month contract position supports the finance function of a large‑scale Technology department undergoing transformation. You will act as the finance lead for the Technology function, partnering with operational stakeholders to ensure budgets are managed, spend is controlled, and financial insights are delivered.

Key responsibilities

• Manage contractor, agency and supplier spend across multiple external partners.
• Approve purchase requisitions and ensure timely, accurate supplier payments.
• Prepare monthly contractor accruals and recharge invoicing.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Monitor technology spend, analyse budget variances and present findings to non‑finance audiences.
• Identify and implement process improvements through automation and AI tools.
• Provide cover for the Finance Planning Manager as needed.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years post‑qualification experience in finance business partnering or cross‑functional accounting.
• Proven experience managing high‑volume supplier or contractor spend.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, able to explain financial data to non‑finance stakeholders.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage competing priorities.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• SAP or SAP S/4HANA.
