Food and Beverage Assistant – Part Time

About the role

The Heritage, a luxury hotel and award‑winning spa in the unspoilt Laois countryside, is seeking a part‑time Food and Beverage Assistant to join its hospitality team. You will be the front‑line host for guests in the restaurant and bar, ensuring a warm welcome, smooth service and a memorable dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Greet guests with a smile, eye contact and a friendly welcome.
• Maintain a clean, tidy service station and carry out mise en place, including table setting, stocking stations and preparing tea/coffee.
• Take customer orders, promote menu items and recommend wines or spirits where appropriate.
• Serve food and beverages efficiently and professionally.
• Clear, polish and store crockery, cutlery and glassware while minimizing breakage.
• Ensure high cleanliness standards in the bar and restaurant areas.
• Handle guest complaints discreetly, escalating to management when needed.
• Possess knowledge of the menu, wines and spirits to answer guest queries.
• Perform any additional duties as directed by management.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a food‑and‑beverage or hospitality role.
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with the ability to remain professional under pressure.
• Good communication skills and a team‑player attitude.

Required skills

• Knowledge of wines, spirits and menu items.
