Graduate Rail Engineer – 2026 Programme

About the role
As a Graduate Rail Engineer on Arup’s 2026 Graduate Programme, you will join the Permanent Way design team to support the delivery of rail infrastructure projects. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to analyse data, perform design calculations and produce detailed drawings and 3D models.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse project data and carry out design calculations for rail track and related structures.
- Produce and review project drawings, 3D models and design checks.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary interfaces and ensure design integration.
- Draft specifications, technical proposals and investigation reports.
- Support cross‑disciplinary work using the latest software tools and techniques.
Required profile
- Accredited civil engineering degree (or equivalent) or imminent graduation.
- Strong interest in a career in the rail industry and sustainable transport.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively under pressure to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
