Health Promotion and Improvement Manager (Grade VIII)

About the role

The Health Promotion and Improvement Manager (Grade VIII) will lead health promotion initiatives across the HSE Mid West region, covering Limerick, Clare and Tipperary North. This senior role is responsible for designing, delivering and evaluating evidence‑based programmes that improve population health and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic health promotion and improvement plans aligned with national health policies.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver community‑focused health initiatives.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on programme outcomes to inform continuous improvement.
• Build and maintain partnerships with local authorities, NGOs, and community groups.
• Manage budgets and resources efficiently to achieve programme objectives.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management on health promotion matters.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in public health, health promotion, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in health promotion or health improvement, preferably within a public health setting.
• Proven leadership and team‑management capabilities.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to work across multiple counties and navigate the Irish health system.
