Health & Safety Officer/Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer/Manager to join a leading manufacturing and precision engineering company that supplies top medical device and orthopaedic firms worldwide. The role is based in Shannon and focuses on ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain strict adherence to health & safety protocols, permits and licensing requirements.
• Liaise with local authorities and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on compliance matters.
• Oversee incident reporting, ensuring timely communication with internal teams, the Health & Safety Authority and insurers.
• Conduct regular audits, safety checks and environmental assessments to uphold quality standards.
• Prepare and deliver systematic compliance assessments and reports.
• Coordinate logistics for external training workshops.
• Promote open dialogue on safety issues between leadership and staff.
• Continuously review and improve safety protocols and risk mitigation strategies.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in a comparable health and safety role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Quality Management or a related field.
• Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH or ISO Lead Auditor are highly desirable.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
• Experience with incident reporting systems and regulatory compliance (HSA, EPA).
• Ability to produce environmental and compliance reports.
• Familiarity with NEBOSH and ISO Lead Auditor methodologies.
