Lecturer in Physiology (Permanent, 1 FTE)

About the role
The University of Galway invites applications for a permanent Lecturer in Physiology. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, research‑intensive department and will be based in the Human Biology Building.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead an internationally recognised research programme in human muscle physiology, metabolism or integrative physiology with a strong data‑analysis component.
- Deliver high‑quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Medicine, allied health, Science, Pharmacy and MSc courses.
- Contribute to curriculum development, including the creation of new modules and programmes.
- Provide academic leadership and mentorship to students and junior staff.
- Engage with clinical and translational research partners within the university.
Required profile
- PhD in Physiology or a closely related biomedical science discipline.
- Demonstrated research excellence appropriate to the career stage (publications, grant funding, international recognition).
- Experience teaching Physiology to diverse third‑level student cohorts.
- Ability to motivate others, work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
Required skills
- Strong background in data analysis.
