Maintenance Director

About the role

The Maintenance Director leads the Maintenance Department, ensuring the facility operates safely, comfortably, and in compliance with all applicable regulations. Reporting to the Administrator, the role oversees planning, organization, and execution of all maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance schedules and written policies.
• Plan, organize, evaluate, and direct all departmental programs and activities.
• Coordinate maintenance services with Dietary, Nursing, Activities, and other departments.
• Assist the Infection Control Coordinator in identifying and documenting maintenance tasks involving potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
• Inspect storage, workrooms, utility and janitorial areas for upkeep and supply control.
• Participate in government facility surveys and develop corrective action plans for identified deficiencies.
• Supervise outside vendors to ensure contract compliance and quality of work.
• Conduct regular meetings and daily rounds with maintenance staff to assess performance and address issues.
• Oversee safety and fire‑protection programs, enforce safety regulations, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and promptly report equipment or facility damage.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead a maintenance team and manage departmental operations.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local maintenance regulations.
• Experience coordinating with multiple internal departments and external vendors.
• Capability to conduct inspections, surveys, and develop corrective action plans.
• Commitment to safety, fire protection, and infection‑control standards.
