Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer will lead the design, validation and launch of new medical products. Working independently, you will define functional requirements, develop component designs, and assess overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Specify precise functional requirements for new products.
• Design, test and integrate components to create final product designs.
• Evaluate designs for effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety.
• Develop and execute fitness‑for‑use testing, product specifications and process validation plans.
• Create and review material part specifications and bills of materials.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize manufacturability.
• Use CAD/CAE tools to model designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.

Required profile

• Professional mastery in mechanical design, typically supported by a college degree or equivalent.
• Significant applicable work experience in the field.
• Strong analytical abilities and sound judgment for complex or novel situations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD (Computer Aided Design) systems.
• Proficiency with CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems.
