Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading Irish manufacturer’s R&D team in Galway. You will be responsible for taking new products from concept through to manufacture, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop new products within a busy R&D environment.
• Create 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Build prototypes and conduct laboratory and field testing.
• Analyse test results and prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to integrate control systems.
• Manage the full mechanical design process from concept to production.
• Participate in technical design reviews and continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain project timelines and engineering documentation in line with ISO 9001 standards.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical design or product development.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM).
• Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem solving.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks.
• Ability to produce detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 documentation requirements.
