Mechanical Design Engineer – Sprinkler Systems

About the role

The Sprinkler Design Engineer will design fire suppression systems based on site surveys or supplied drawings, supporting the UK&I Fire Suppression team. Based in Cork, you will work with the design team to meet customer needs and contribute to sustainable building solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical design work for fire suppression systems, ensuring schedules for approval, fabrication and construction are met.
• Liaise with sales, contract managers and on‑site teams regarding specifications, installation and bracketing.
• Complete design risk assessments and verify drawings before issue.
• Issue drawings to construction managers and foremen, and prepare certification documents (FM, NFPA, EN).
• Provide design information for hydraulic data plates and coordinate with purchasing for component availability.

Required profile

• Design experience in a mechanical, electrical or industrial environment.
• Proficient with AutoCAD; 3‑D CAD capability is a plus.
• Full driving licence.
• Strong organisational, written and verbal communication skills.
