Mechanical Engineer – Construction Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join Mercury’s engineering team in Dublin. The role involves leading mechanical engineering activities across the full project lifecycle for complex construction solutions, including data centres and life‑science facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Support and lead mechanical engineering from pre‑construction through commissioning.
• Review design intent, specifications and drawings to understand project scope.
• Contribute to tendering, estimating and resource planning.
• Analyse MEP and mechanical designs, identify gaps, risks and optimisation opportunities.
• Coordinate interfaces with clients, consultants, BIM teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Manage information delivery according to ISO 19650 and project information standards.
• Select equipment, prepare procurement packages and assess subcontractor tender returns.
• Lead design and delivery of critical cooling, HVAC, plumbing and fire‑protection systems.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, industry standards and client requirements.
• Support value engineering, off‑site manufacture and constructability reviews.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
• Maintain project records such as RFIs, drawing registers and risk logs.
• Mentor junior engineers and represent Mercury at stakeholder meetings.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading mechanical engineering activities across all project phases.
• Ability to review and optimise MEP designs and tender documentation.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing information delivery.
• Capability to mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge.
