Mechanical Engineer – Hyperscale Data Centre (Vaasa, Finland)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading engineering contractor on a hyperscale data centre project in Vaasa, Finland. The role involves designing and delivering mechanical systems that meet stringent performance and safety standards for a high‑tech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop HVAC, plumbing and fire‑protection system designs that comply with project requirements and industry regulations.
• Lead pre‑construction activities, including health & safety reviews, technical submissions and construction drawing preparation.
• Conduct site inspections, monitor progress and ensure installations meet quality and regulatory standards.
• Manage procurement for mechanical packages and coordinate plant package reviews with the Procurement Manager.
• Collaborate with project teams to maintain schedules and deliver high‑quality service.
• Coordinate mechanical services and builder’s work drawings with the Site/Project Manager.
• Oversee document control, including drawings, RFIs, technical logs, schedules and QA packs.
• Support commissioning, subcontractor coordination and certification uploads.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, construction or a related trade qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience with a main contractor.
• Experience in data centre or high‑tech sectors is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including cloud‑based collaboration tools.
