Permits Advisor – Shutdown Planning

About the role

Newmont is seeking an Advisor, Permits to lead the permitting and planning for major processing plant shutdowns at its Lihir operation in Papua New Guinea. You will act as the central liaison between Operations, Maintenance, Safety and Shutdown teams, ensuring that all shutdown activities are executed safely, efficiently and in line with regulatory and internal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operational permitting and planning requirements for major processing plant shutdowns.
• Partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, Safety and Shutdown Planning teams to ensure shutdown readiness and successful execution.
• Review emergent and late‑work scopes and integrate them into ramp‑down and isolation plans.
• Facilitate shutdown planning, scheduling and progress meetings, providing clear communication across stakeholder groups.
• Champion safety by ensuring compliance with Permit‑to‑Work, Isolation and Energy Control standards.
• Coach and mentor operational teams to improve planning quality, incident management and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in shutdown planning and operational permitting within an industrial or mining environment.
• Strong understanding of Permit‑to‑Work, isolation and energy control procedures.
• Ability to coordinate multiple functional teams and drive alignment on complex projects.
• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
