Piping Designer

About the role

The Piping Designer will create integrated piping systems for data‑centre liquid‑cooling applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications. You will work closely with manufacturing to optimise designs for fabrication and installation, contributing to innovative, sustainable infrastructure solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3‑D piping designs, PDF drawings and layout plans for data‑centre projects.
• Ensure all designs comply with industry codes, client specifications and Tate’s quality standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, commercial teams and manufacturing to integrate piping systems into overall project designs.
• Prepare and review P&IDs, isometric drawings and bills of material.
• Support cost estimation and keep designs within budget and schedule.

Required profile

• HNC or degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of piping design experience in construction, pharmaceuticals, semiconductor or oil & gas sectors.
• Hands‑on experience on site, in fabrication workshops and during installation/commissioning is desirable.
• Strong communication, teamwork and time‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Plant3D, SP3D, Revit, AutoCAD or CADWorx.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality‑control protocols.
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards.
