Preconstruction Manager

About the role

Apto is expanding its portfolio of hyperscale data centres across Europe. Reporting to the Preconstruction Director, the Preconstruction Manager will shape construction logic, sequencing and strategy for new data‑centre builds, ensuring projects align with customer requirements and regulatory constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Define construction logic, durations and sequencing for new data‑centre projects in collaboration with the scheduling team.
• Develop and continuously update construction employer requirement documentation.
• Assist the Commercial Team with tender processes, supplier onboarding and appointment of General Contractors, M&E contractors and equipment suppliers.
• Coordinate pre‑ and post‑land sale due diligence with joint‑venture partners, statutory bodies, consultants and landowners.
• Work with internal design teams to provide constructability advice for mechanical and electrical systems and drive value‑engineering proposals.
• Engage with customers during onboarding to incorporate their requirements into project plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience in pre‑construction or construction planning for large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of data‑centre construction components such as power, permitting, procurement and mechanical/electrical systems.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams, external partners and regulatory authorities.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with a focus on delivering safe, sustainable and cost‑effective designs.
