Principal Engineer, Reliability Engineering (GaN)

About the role

Analog Devices is hiring a Principal Engineer, Reliability Engineering, for its Intrinsic Reliability (iRel) Group in Limerick, Ireland. The iRel Group investigates the intrinsic reliability of semiconductor devices, circuits and sensors, and is split between Limerick and San Jose. The role is for a GaN Intrinsic Reliability Engineer providing technical leadership in the reliability characterization, modeling and qualification of GaN and wide bandgap (WBG) devices, helping de-risk GaN product development (100V and 650V) and support the high-voltage and power semiconductor roadmap.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the GaN intrinsic reliability strategy across 100V to 650V technologies, aligned with product roadmaps.
• Define and run reliability qualification methods, including HTGB, HTRB, switching and transient stress testing.
• Lead physics-of-failure investigations, identify degradation mechanisms and drive root-cause resolution.
• Develop and validate lifetime and reliability models (voltage, temperature, switching dependencies).
• Work with design and product teams to de-risk products early and ensure robust qualification.
• Provide technical leadership on reliability risks, guardbands and design recommendations.
• Build and improve intrinsic reliability test infrastructure, including ATE-based and custom stress systems.
• Advance next-generation reliability methods for GaN and wider WBG technologies (SiC, AlGaN, etc.).

Required profile

• PhD or MSc in Physics, Electrical Engineering or Semiconductor Engineering.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in semiconductor reliability with a significant GaN or WBG focus.
• Resident in Limerick; no travel required.
