Senior Architect

About the role

Respond, a leading Approved Housing Body, is expanding its design team and seeks a Senior Architect to shape residential and community projects across Ireland. Reporting to the Design Lead and Head of Development, you will drive design quality, sustainability and value for money in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Translate briefings into feasible design concepts and lead development from sketch through construction.
• Manage Public Works Contract (PWC) schemes, including feasibility studies, funding applications, tendering, contract administration and on‑site delivery.
• Prepare business cases, feasibility studies and funding proposals for new schemes.
• Conduct design due diligence, risk assessments and stakeholder negotiations.
• Ensure all projects align with Respond’s design guide, ESG strategy and placemaking standards.
• Lead design reviews and evaluate submissions against technical merit and quality criteria.

Required profile

• Significant experience designing complex urban or suburban residential schemes.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and coordinate with housing, finance, health & safety and construction partners.
• Strong understanding of sustainable construction practices and public realm design.
• Experience delivering projects through the full development lifecycle, including public sector contracts.
