Senior Pharmacist – Antimicrobial Stewardship & Clinical Duties

About the role

The Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) pharmacist joins a progressive pharmacy team delivering paediatric care across CHI. Reporting to the Pharmacist Executive Manager, the role leads the implementation and monitoring of a robust AMS programme to ensure safe, effective antimicrobial use and limit resistance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and audit the antimicrobial stewardship programme for paediatric and neonatal services.
• Collaborate closely with infectious diseases consultants, microbiologists and the Infection Prevention and Control team.
• Manage the antimicrobial guidelines application under the governance of the CHI Formulary Pharmacist.
• Provide regular education to multidisciplinary teams on appropriate antimicrobial use.
• Perform clinical pharmacy and dispensary duties as required.
• Support quality‑improvement initiatives, legislative compliance and health‑and‑safety requirements.
• Participate in national expert groups and contribute to continuous service improvement.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years post‑registration hospital pharmacy experience.
• Registered pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland.
