Senior System Engineer – CloudGate (Ireland)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior System Engineer (CloudGate) based in Ireland to work on advanced cloud networking solutions that power next‑generation AI infrastructure. You will design reliable systems, improve service scalability and solve complex infrastructure challenges in a large‑scale cloud environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve core networking services for large‑scale cloud infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain data‑plane components for advanced cloud network services.
• Implement high‑performance, reliable software solutions.
• Enhance service scalability, performance and reliability through architectural optimisations.
• Add new service functionality, including endpoint support and health‑check mechanisms.
• Optimise interactions between distributed services in a micro‑service control plane.
• Automate complex cross‑service workflows to boost operational efficiency.
• Perform load testing and analyse system behaviour under high‑traffic conditions.
• Contribute to the evolution of cloud networking technologies such as connectivity, traffic delivery and network management.

Required profile

• Experienced systems engineer with strong software development background.
• Proven ability to write reliable, high‑performance production code.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts and traffic routing.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud environments and service‑oriented architectures.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with focus on performance, reliability and maintainability.

Required skills

• C programming language.
• Willingness and ability to learn Go.
• C++ programming language.
• Experience with VPP (Vector Packet Processing) or similar data‑plane frameworks.
