SHES Manager – Power Infrastructure

About the role

The SHES Manager for the Power Division will lead health, safety and environmental (HSE) activities across a portfolio of power infrastructure projects, including LV/MV/HV networks, substations, solar and wind installations. Reporting to the Head of SHES for Energy and Industry, the role is based in Dublin with nationwide travel to project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and implement Murphy’s Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
• Develop and deliver HSE strategies for power projects, ensuring compliance with Irish legislation, client codes and industry standards.
• Conduct site audits, inspections, risk assessments and performance reviews on a regular basis.
• Lead investigations of incidents, near‑misses and non‑conformances, driving root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Monitor environmental impact, support sustainability goals and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide expert HSE guidance to site teams, subcontractors and senior management.
• Deliver targeted training, inductions and toolbox talks for high‑risk activities.
• Maintain accurate HSE records, reports and KPIs, supporting continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing HSE functions on power or utility projects.
• Strong knowledge of Irish HSE legislation and relevant industry codes.
• Excellent investigative and analytical skills with a proactive safety mindset.
• Ability to lead a team of SHES Advisors and influence stakeholders at all levels.
