Staff Nurse – Oncology (Permanent, Full‑time)

About the role

The HSE Mid West is recruiting a Staff Nurse specialised in Oncology to join the University Maternity Hospital in Limerick. This permanent, full‑time position is open to both HSE and non‑HSE applicants and forms part of the General Staff Nurse grade (2135). The role will be based in the oncology department delivering high‑quality nursing care to patients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult oncology patients, including assessment, monitoring and documentation.
• Administer chemotherapy and other oncological treatments in accordance with clinical protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, pharmacists and allied health professionals, to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, side‑effects and self‑care strategies.
• Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to audit and quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse with current registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
• Experience in a hospital setting, preferably within oncology or related specialties.
• Commitment to delivering patient‑centred care and adhering to HSE standards.
