Technician – Rigger & Dogger

About the role

The Technician – Rigger & Dogger supports mobile crane and fixed‑plant operations across the Lihir mining and processing facilities. Working on‑site, you will perform rigging and dogman tasks for equipment such as crushers, grinders, flotation cells, conveyors and ancillary plant structures, always following approved lift plans and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform rigging and dogman activities on fixed and mobile plant equipment, structures and processing‑facility components.
• Communicate daily with supervisors, crane operators and other work groups, providing updates and supporting maintenance priorities.
• Escalate any issues, delays or constraints that could affect safe or timely task execution.
• Carry out preventative‑maintenance inspections on plant equipment and rigging gear in line with site procedures.
• Maintain the rigging shed, tools and equipment in a safe, serviceable condition.
• Apply technical knowledge to tasks and assist in the development of fellow team members.

Required profile

• Proven experience in rigging and dogging within a mining or heavy‑industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of lift plans, safety standards and preventative‑maintenance practices.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse on‑site teams.
• Willingness to work on‑site in a remote location and adhere to strict safety protocols.
