Trainee Area Manager – Retail (Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford)

About the role

This is a graduate‑level opportunity to lead a district of food retail stores across Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford. You will be responsible for developing Store Managers, driving commercial performance and supporting new store projects while working within a leading retail organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a district of stores with direct responsibility for multiple Store Managers.
• Coach and develop Store Managers to achieve operational and commercial excellence.
• Analyse store performance, stock movements and key metrics to drive improvements.
• Develop and implement annual business plans and KPI targets.
• Plan staffing structures and support workforce planning across stores.
• Conduct regular district visits, operational reviews and cash management checks.
• Support new store openings, refurbishments and strategic projects.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to implement company strategy.

Required profile

• Minimum 2.1 degree in any discipline or at least three years’ management experience.
• Previous management experience in a fast‑paced retail or customer‑facing environment.
• Strong leadership, communication and analytical abilities.
• Commercial mindset with problem‑solving capability.
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Flexible, proactive and highly organised approach.
• Passion for building a long‑term career in retail.

• Starting salary €78,000, rising to €89,500 and up to €121,000 after three years.
