Vice-President: Education & Student Success

About the role

The University of Galway is appointing its inaugural Vice‑President for Education & Student Success. Reporting to the President and joining the senior management team, you will steer the university’s strategic agenda for teaching, learning and student outcomes across more than 20,000 students.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the Educational Excellence and Student Success strategies.
• Oversee curriculum development, assessment design, and inclusive learning initiatives.
• Champion innovation in education, including the integration of artificial intelligence.
• Coordinate with colleges, schools and professional services to ensure cohesive student engagement.
• Drive access, participation, progression and post‑graduate success programmes.

Required profile

• Distinguished academic of professorial standing.
• Proven experience leading educational strategy and transformational change in a complex organisation.
• Strong record of improving teaching quality, inspiring colleagues and building partnerships.
• Deep understanding of quality assurance, curriculum design and student success metrics.
