Automation IT/OT Technician – On-site Support

About the role

CREGG is looking for an Automation IT/OT Technician to deliver on-site support for a regulated manufacturing facility in East Cork. The role bridges traditional IT infrastructure with operational technology, ensuring laboratory systems, production equipment and automation platforms run reliably under GMP standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 & 2 on-site IT/OT support across manufacturing and laboratory environments.
• Support and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLC-controlled equipment.
• Maintain MES and OSI PI data historian systems.
• Diagnose issues with SCADA HMI touchscreens, RF scanners and industrial label printers.
• Install, configure and troubleshoot industrial Ethernet networks, including switches, patch panels, VLANs and wireless access points.
• Perform Windows endpoint imaging, deployment and software patching via centralized servers.
• Build, configure and validate custom IT builds for specialised laboratory and production equipment.
• Maintain asset lifecycle records and ensure daily backups and disaster-recovery processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a manufacturing or regulated production environment.
• Hands-on knowledge of PLC, MES, SCADA and industrial data historian systems.
• Understanding of GMP-compliant IT practices and IT/OT network segmentation.
• Valid EU work permit.
• Desirable experience in pharmaceutical or highly regulated manufacturing and familiarity with IQ/OQ/PQ validation documentation.
