Director, European & UK Public Policy

About the role

We are seeking a senior public policy strategist to lead Whatnot’s advocacy across the European Union and the United Kingdom. The Director will shape the regulatory environment for live‑shopping and marketplace platforms, positioning the company as a trusted partner for policymakers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive public policy and government‑engagement strategy for the EU and UK.
• Build and maintain relationships with legislators, regulators, trade associations, civil‑society groups and external consultants in Brussels, London and other key hubs.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting e‑commerce, customs, product safety, platform liability and consumer protection.
• Provide senior leadership with analysis of policy proposals, clear recommendations and trade‑off assessments.
• Collaborate with Legal, Communications, Product, Trust & Risk, Tax and Go‑to‑Market teams to assess impact and coordinate responses.
• Represent Whatnot in public hearings, consultations and industry forums.

Required profile

• Proven experience in public policy, government affairs or regulatory advocacy within the EU and/or UK.
• Strong understanding of e‑commerce, digital marketplaces and related regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to craft persuasive narratives for diverse audiences.
• Strategic thinker who can also manage day‑to‑day execution.
