Executive Director – Pensions Actuary

About the role

EY is seeking an Executive Director to lead its pensions actuarial offering within the Assurance Business Unit. The role combines specialist actuarial reviews of pension accounting with strategic advisory on pension risk and financial reporting for complex defined‑benefit schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead actuarial support on audits of DB pension schemes, reviewing valuations, models, assumptions and IFRS/IAS 19 disclosures.
• Provide technical actuarial leadership on funding valuations, liability modelling, scenario testing and methodology development.
• Advise corporate clients on pension risk, funding implications, de‑risking strategies and scheme sustainability.
• Lead actuarial input for M&A due diligence, assessing pension exposures and supporting deal negotiations.
• Manage multi‑disciplinary engagements, build relationships with CFOs, trustees and boards, and drive revenue growth.
• Coordinate tender responses for pensions‑related advisory work.
• Build, mentor and develop actuarial teams, fostering a high‑performing, quality‑driven culture.
• Ensure compliance with EY quality, independence standards and regulatory expectations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in pensions actuarial work and audit environments.
• Deep knowledge of IAS 19 and IFRS accounting standards for DB schemes.
• Proven leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Strong client‑facing and advisory skills, including experience with de‑risking transactions.
• Ability to manage complex, multi‑disciplinary engagements at senior stakeholder level.
