About the role
The Licensing Lawyer will join the Litigation and Investigations team at William Fry LLP, providing specialist advice to clients in the retail and hospitality sectors on licensing and regulatory matters. Working closely with partners and senior solicitors, the role combines advisory, transactional and court‑application work to ensure clients meet all licensing obligations.
Key responsibilities
- Advise clients on licensing requirements, processes and compliance across relevant sectors.
- Prepare and present court applications and manage licence applications, renewals, variations and transfers.
- Draft correspondence, submissions and supporting documentation for regulatory authorities.
- Liaise with regulators, advisers and third parties to progress applications and resolve issues.
- Monitor licence conditions, renewal dates and ongoing compliance obligations.
- Conduct legal and regulatory research to support client advice.
- Maintain accurate client files in line with confidentiality and risk‑management standards.
- Support client relationship management and contribute to business development where appropriate.
Required profile
- Experience in licensing, regulatory or legal support within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Proven ability to prepare and present licensing applications and interact with regulatory bodies.
- Familiarity with Irish and/or EU regulatory frameworks relevant to retail and hospitality clients.
- Strong academic or professional background in law, compliance or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a top‑tier or mid‑tier law firm, preferably with transactional or advisory work in the retail and hospitality sectors.
