Machine Operator

About the role

Join Ball’s Waterford engineering team as a Machine Operator, working 12‑hour shifts to support the production of sustainable aluminium packaging. You will play a key part in keeping equipment running efficiently and ensuring product quality.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, repair and maintain end‑making and supporting systems.
• Carry out regular quality checks and record results.
• Assist with production problems to minimise downtime (MTBF).
• Support lead engineers, toolmakers, electricians and fitters in resolving technical issues.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement activities (CI Cards, Shingo) to meet performance targets.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly tooling, product and equipment inspections.
• Report potential equipment issues to supervision.
• Train trainee operators on equipment troubleshooting.
• Assist during mechanical or tooling breakdowns and scheduled maintenance.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organised work areas following 5S and “clean as you go” policies.

Required profile

• Keen interest and aptitude for mechanics.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain processes clearly.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
