About the role
Join Ball’s Waterford engineering team as a Machine Operator, working 12‑hour shifts to support the production of sustainable aluminium packaging. You will play a key part in keeping equipment running efficiently and ensuring product quality.
Key responsibilities
- Operate, repair and maintain end‑making and supporting systems.
- Carry out regular quality checks and record results.
- Assist with production problems to minimise downtime (MTBF).
- Support lead engineers, toolmakers, electricians and fitters in resolving technical issues.
- Participate in continuous‑improvement activities (CI Cards, Shingo) to meet performance targets.
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly tooling, product and equipment inspections.
- Report potential equipment issues to supervision.
- Train trainee operators on equipment troubleshooting.
- Assist during mechanical or tooling breakdowns and scheduled maintenance.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organised work areas following 5S and “clean as you go” policies.
Required profile
- Keen interest and aptitude for mechanics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain processes clearly.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
