Maintenance Fitter – Weekend 12‑hour Shifts

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join AbbVie’s Westport site on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role works 12‑hour weekend shifts on a bi‑weekly rotation, supporting aseptic manufacturing, filling, packaging and site services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and unplanned mechanical maintenance on plant equipment and services.
• Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Support machine effectiveness initiatives and identify spare‑part requirements.
• Assist specialist vendors with preventive maintenance and attend FAT/commissioning activities.
• Participate in equipment qualification, preventive‑maintenance routine setup and risk assessments.
• Provide KPI data for the technical team and support regulatory audits.
• Ensure all work complies with health‑ and‑safety standards and company procedures.

Required profile

• Trade‑certified mechanical qualification.
• Minimum 2 years of maintenance and troubleshooting experience in a highly automated production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical data and procedures.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to work overtime and shift work.
