About the role
Our client, a prominent State body in Ireland, is seeking an experienced Medical Defence Litigation Solicitor to join the Claims Management team in Dublin City Centre. Working on a hybrid basis for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, you will manage clinical negligence claims under a national indemnity scheme and provide expert medico‑legal guidance.
Key responsibilities
- Manage an assigned portfolio of clinical claims against the State.
- Investigate and evaluate each claim, seeking senior guidance as needed.
- Develop and implement investigation and resolution strategies, subject to approval.
- Liaise with solicitors, barristers, experts and third‑party advisers.
- Select and coordinate legal and expert representatives for cases.
- Ensure timely processing and accurate documentation of all claims.
- Support health authorities and hospitals with coronial inquests.
- Provide daily advisory services to assigned authorities on the clinical indemnity scheme.
- Offer medical‑legal advice to hospitals within the portfolio.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing medical defence litigation.
- Relevant third‑level or professional legal qualification.
- Strong relationship‑building and communication abilities.
- Proven negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
Required skills
- Knowledge of NIMS (National Incident Management System).
- Proficiency with iManage document management system.
