Asset Management Apprenticeship – Painting, Carpentry & Horticulture

About the role

Join the Asset Management team at Dublin Airport and start a career in a modern, technical apprenticeship programme. You will be trained on‑the‑job in one of three trades – painting, carpentry or horticulture – while completing off‑the‑job study through the SOLAS Standard Based Apprenticeship Programme.

Key responsibilities

• Paint Apprentice (4 years): surface preparation, wallcovering installation, professional paint, stain and varnish application, sign painting, spray painting, and equipment maintenance.
• Carpentry Apprentice (4 years): timber measurement, cutting and fabrication, joinery installation, fit‑out works for doors, frames, flooring, ceilings and wall cladding, and planned/reactive maintenance of carpentry elements.
• Gardening Apprentice (minimum 2 years): horticultural maintenance of airport grounds, planting, pruning, and landscape upkeep.

Required profile

• Eligible to enrol in the SOLAS Standard Based Apprenticeship Programme.
• Willing to commit to a 2‑year (gardening) or 4‑year (painting, carpentry) apprenticeship.
• Ability to work onsite at Dublin Airport in a live operational environment.
• Open to a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Required skills

• Surface preparation (sanding, filling, masking, priming).
• Paint application techniques (brush, roller, airless spray).
• Wallcovering measurement and hanging.
• Sign painting and layout.
• Equipment maintenance for painting tools.
• Timber measurement, cutting and assembly.
• Joinery installation and fit‑out.
• Carpentry maintenance and repair.
• Basic horticultural practices (planting, pruning, landscape care).
