Chief Operating Officer – Residential Design & Construction

About the role

We are partnering with a highly successful residential design and construction business in Cork to appoint a Chief Operating Officer. The COO will lead day‑to‑day operations, ensuring the seamless integration of design, planning, construction and after‑care functions. This senior leader will work with an experienced management team to drive the business through its next growth phase.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the operational management of the entire business, aligning all departments as a single, connected process.
• Lead and support the existing management team, fostering accountability while preserving a collaborative culture.
• Manage the handover of projects from design and pre‑construction into the construction phase, ensuring all documentation and commercial details are complete before site start.
• Monitor live construction programmes, project risks, milestones and delivery dates.
• Collaborate with the Financial Controller to review budgets, actual costs, variations, margins, cash‑flow and commercial risks.
• Ensure professional project handovers, warranty management and after‑care services.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in construction, design‑build or related sectors.
• Strong ability to lead through people, create accountability and inspire high performance.
• Excellent understanding of the full project lifecycle from client enquiry to after‑care.
• Strategic mindset with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Required skills
