Commercial Manager - Civils

About the role

John Paul Construction is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead civil engineering and infrastructure projects in Dublin. You will be responsible for overseeing contract financials, ensuring accurate valuations, and supporting the delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, interim and final valuations, payment applications and cost reconciliations for contracts, sub‑contractors and suppliers.
• Provide data for regular cash‑flow and contract position reviews.
• Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to place sub‑contracts where required.
• Examine contract documents in detail and flag any anomalies.
• Agree interim and final valuation dates with client representatives.
• Produce take‑offs for Estimating, Procurement and Planning departments.
• Prepare final accounts for completed sections, adjust as needed and obtain client agreement.
• Record contractual delays accurately.
• Manage, coach and develop contract surveyors and junior staff.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience, preferably with a main contractor.
• Proven background in construction, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Chartered or working towards chartership with the Society of Chartered Surveyors (SCS).
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Excellent IT proficiency.
