Counsellor for Youth (12‑18) – Tallaght

About the role

Crosscare is seeking a part‑time, permanent Counsellor to work with young people aged 12‑18 in Tallaght. You will build therapeutic relationships, provide individual and group counselling, and support parents as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individual counselling and, when required, group therapy for adolescents.
• Manage a caseload under supervision, conducting comprehensive assessments.
• Consider family, mental health, peer influence, gender, culture and sexuality in care planning.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and develop clinical partnerships with other professionals.
• Report child protection concerns in line with “Children First” guidelines.
• Monitor treatment outcomes, discharge clients appropriately, and refer to community resources.
• Provide flexible service delivery, including out‑of‑hours support and new programme development.

Required profile

• 2‑year diploma in Counselling/Psychotherapy accredited by a recognised professional body.
• Minimum two years of case‑load management experience under supervision.
• Proficiency in person‑centred and integrative therapeutic approaches.
• Ability to support parents and work with diverse youth populations.
• Up‑to‑date clinical knowledge of assessments and treatment planning.
• Commitment to supervision, quality evaluation and ethical practice.
• Understanding of child protection notification procedures.
